Clinton-Massie Local School District will be accepting applications for the 2012-13 Preschool Program from May 14, to June 30, 2012.
Clinton-Massie’s Preschool Program is located at Clinton-Massie Local Schools, 2380 Lebanon Road, Clarksville, Ohio. The Preschool Program is designed to serve children (residing in our district only – open enrollment does NOT apply to the Preschool Program) with a variety of special needs as well as typically developing peers in order to create a community of learners; one with a positive, enriching, learning environment and experience for all children.
In order to qualify for enrollment as a typically developing preschooler for the 2012-13 school year, students must be 4 years old and potty trained no later than August 1, 2012. When selecting typically developing children for our preschool program, both of these factors are considered.
After May 14, 2012, a preschool application may be obtained by downloading from our website, picked up at our administrative offices, or by contacting the Office of Student Services at (937) 289-4166. Clinton-Massie will select 8 typical preschoolers in each of our two sessions (a total of 16). We value the balance of age and gender in each class. When selecting children for our preschool program, both of these factors will be considered. All forms associated with the Preschool Application MUST be completed and returned to our office at Clinton-Massie Preschool, 2556 Lebanon Rd., Clarksville, OH 45113; Attention: Kathey Carroll, Preschool Director. Medical forms must include vision, hearing, and dental checkups. Do not leave any items unaddressed on any requested forms as this will slow the process down and may result in your loss of placement. Families will receive notification no later than July 20, 2012. Those who are not selected will have the opportunity to place their child on a waiting list. Our Preschool Program is scheduled to begin Monday, August 20, 2012.
Clinton-Massie Local School District uses the Success For All, Everyday Math, and Handwriting Without Tears curriculum that correlates with the Early Learning and Content Standards provided by the Ohio Department of Education. The daily schedule provides for a combination of whole group, small group, and individual instruction as well as learning through center-based activities. Children are given opportunities to interact with peers and adults in the classroom, as well as motor time and outside play. The atmosphere of our program fosters safe, challenging, and pleasant classrooms.
Our preschool instructor is licensed by the Ohio Department of Education to provide special needs services to preschoolers. Our preschool educational aides have experience and are Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) certified by the State of Ohio. We also have two Speech Pathologists experienced in working with children, and a registered nurse on staff. Each class currently is a combination of multi-age grouping of 3-5 year olds, comprised of a total of 16 children; 8 with special needs. Classes are in session Monday through Thursday for half-day sessions (8:45 – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:45 p.m.) and follow the Clinton-Massie Local School District’s adopted calendar. The district’s 2012-13 school calendar can be downloaded from our website.
