I am proud that we have earned the rating of “Excellent” from the Ohio Department of Education, have the second highest score in Region 14 and for the third consecutive year, met all 26 state indicators as well as AYP. This designation would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire community: parents, students, board of education, and the entire Clinton-Massie staff. The Ohio Department of Education bases this rating on the academic success, attendance, dropout rates and graduation rates of the schools and district.
While working to provide a first-class education, the district has gone through some organizational changes over the last four years. In order to be good stewards of taxpayer money, we have re-organized and reduced staff in order to be more efficient. Through this re-organization, we have cut over $1.7 million that has had a cumulative savings of over $4.7 million dollars for the district. The district is in the second year of its one-to-one initiative where every student in grades 5-12 has a net book. This program is being expanded next year so every student in grades 3-12 will have a net book. The teachers are continuing to integrate more technology into the classroom every year. In the high school, we are now offering 14 dual enrollment courses through Urbana University at a cost of $50 per course. The CM class of 2016 will have the opportunity to earn a Clinton-Massie High School Diploma and an Associates Degree from Urbana University during the course of their four years in high school. Last year, our students saved $176,860 in tuition at Urbana by taking these dual enrollment courses. For now, many of our graduates will enter college as a sophomore due to this program. Our ultimate goal is to see that each and every graduate of Clinton-Massie is college or career ready.
Finally, I invite you to come and visit our schools. We are proud of our students, staff and facilities. We promise to work hard to meet the needs of every individual student as we strive to continuously improve the education offered by the Clinton-Massie Local School District. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
