CCP

Information for CCP for 2020-2021 School Year (NEW!)
There will be an optional informational session for students and their parents held at CMHS on February 6, 2020.  This will take place from 7:00-7:30 p.m. in the auditeria.  Representatives from Sinclair College will be coming to present general information about the College Credit Plus program in the state of Ohio.  This session is optional, and repeat CCP students/parents need not attend; students/parents who are new to CCP are encouraged (but not required) to attend.

If you were unable to attend the informational session on February 6, the PowerPoint presentation can be viewed here

Dates are now scheduled for mandatory CCP "counseling sessions" required by the state in order for students to participate in CCP.
The student and a parent are both required to participate, even if the student has previously participated in CCP

All students who plan to participate in College Credit Plus for the 2020-2021 school year must complete the state-required counseling in order to participate in the CCP program. This year, we will have two types of counseling sessions available, in-person counseling and electronic counseling.

In-person counseling sessions will take place on February 27, March 3, and March 5. We recommend in-person counseling sessions for all those who are new to the program or who would like the chance to ask questions.

Sessions will take place in the auditeria at CMHS for students in grades 6-11 and their families on:

February 27 at 9 a.m.*
March 3 at 3:00 p.m.
March 5 at 1:00 p.m.* and again at 6:30 p.m.
*Because this is during the school day, parents will need to enter at the front door and check  in at the main office to acquire a visitor's pass before reporting to the auditeria. If you can bring a license/state ID, the check-in process goes a lot faster.

You do not need to RSVP for the sessions--you can just show up.  With parent permission, a student whose parent is present can be called out of class on February 27 or March 5 to attend the presentation.

For those who have been through the counseling sessions in past years, we are also offering the option of electronic counseling presentations.  To complete this option, both parents and students need to read through the information below and sign both the Letter of Intent form and the counseling acknowledgement form agreeing that they understand the risks and benefits of the CCP program.

All students in grades 9-11 have been emailed the information above.  The Letter of Intent (all students must submit by April 1) and Authorization Form (new CCP students only) are available in the school counseling office and on the website.

Forms for 2020-2021 School Year:
CCP Counseling Session Presentation (This is the presentation you must read to complete electronic counseling; it is also the presentation used for in-person counseling.  If you are completing electronic counseling, please make sure that you have read the entire presentation and asked questions (if needed) prior to signing any of the other forms.
Sinclair Authorization Form 2020-2021
(Required for all students who are new to Sinclair or were a Sinclair student previously at a different district and are new to C-M)  This form should be submitted to your school counselor, who will complete the form and send it to Sinclair. If you are attending a different college, you will need to get their authorization form from their website.

Letter of Intent to Participate in CCP for 2020-2021 (This form must be submitted to the school counselor by April 1, 2020, or a student will not be permitted to participate in CCP in the 2020-2021 school year.  This form must be submitted by both new and returning CCP students.  Submitting this form does not mean that a student is required to participate; however, he/she cannot participate unless it was submitted by the deadline.

CCP Parent/Student Counseling Acknowledgement Form 2020-2021 (Required for all students participating in CCP for the 2020-2021 school year.)

CCP Testing Information (NEW!)
Sinclair is coming to CMHS on March 26 to provide WritePlacer/ALEKS testing for students in grades 9-11 who need to complete placement testing.  In order to test, students must have completed their Sinclair application and submitted the Authorization form to their school counselor no later than March 11.  This is to ensure that their application is completely processed prior to testing; if the application is not complete, students cannot test that day.  Any student who does not complete testing that day will need to visit Sinclair to be tested.

If a student previously tested and did not pass, he/she has the option to only take the test that he/she failed.  If a student failed the ALEKS test, he/she must complete five hours of remediation online before he/she can test again.  See below for ALEKS retest module directions. Please contact Sinclair with any questions regarding ALEKS remediation.

Current CCP Students--Spring 2020
You should be working with your college adviser to schedule your off-campus (online and in-person) courses.  Make sure that you don't register for too many hours; you can take a maximum of 30 credit hours per year, including any high school courses you are taking.  For more information about the allowable number of hours, click here.

Students need to submit their class schedule to Ms. Beres for off-campus (including online) CCP classes as soon as they are registered.  If your schedule arrives after December 6 (or is incomplete), there is no guarantee that you will receive your books for the start of your class in the spring. When you submit your schedule, please make sure that you include the following information:

1. Course name (example: Music Appreciation)
2. Course number with section  number (example: MUS 1121-500)
3. Number of credit hours for each course
4. Whether the course will be online or in-person

We need all of the information above in order to ensure that your scheduling data is entered correctly and that you receive the correct books for your course.

Textbooks for Current CCP Students
Do not order/pick up your own books for fall unless you have been told to do so; in most cases, your books will be ordered for you, and you will pick them up at CMHS starting on January 6.  As long as you submitted your complete course list by , your books should be ready and you can stop by any time between 7:30-3:30 on January 6-10 to pick them up.

Should you drop/add a course before the term begins, we need to know as soon as possible so that we can get the correct books.

Please drop off your textbooks from your fall classes starting ASAP. They can be dropped off to the school counseling office and should be returned no later than December 18. If you fail to return any of the books, the cost of the book(s) will be added to your school fees.

A spreadsheet will be shared with all off-campus CCP students that shares how each student will get his/her books.  Some will need to be picked up at the book store, and others will be available at CMHS starting January 6.  Make sure that you check the document so that you know where to get your books.
